Visiting Assistant Professor

The Department of Statistics at Indiana University, Bloomington, anticipates one or more Visiting Assistant Professor positions for the 2014-2015 academic year (8/1/2014-5/31/2015). VAP positions are for one year, with possible renewal for a second year. VAPs teach both undergraduate and graduate courses, with a teaching load of 2 courses per semester. The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in statistics or a related field and previous teaching experience.

STATISTICAL CONSULTANT/LECTURER

The Department of Statistics in the College of Arts and Sciences at Indiana University invites applications for an applied statistician to teach one course per semester and work for the Indiana Statistical Consulting Center. Applicants should have both teaching and consulting experience. An M.S. in statistics or a related field is required.


* Teach two Statistics courses per year (one in the Fall and one in the Spring).
* Assist graduate students, faculty, and staff from across Indiana University's campuses in developing research projects, using statistical software, analyzing data, interpreting results, and preparing written results for manuscripts.
* Provide short-term free consulting within IU and collaborate on long-term funded projects with internal and external clients.
* Identify and explore analytic methods to address research questions and recommend options that correspond to the needs of the client.
* Oversee students from the Statistics Department who intern in the consulting center.
* Work independently and collaboratively with coworkers and supervisor to address client needs and complete projects with a high level of quality.
* Manage and analyze data using a variety of statistical software including R, SPSS, SAS, Stata, and Excel.
