NEW CARLISLE — A study in the quality of well water across the habitat of New Prairie High School students taught the children some surprising things about the water they drink.

It also propelled their teacher, John Gensic, to one of five national winning spots for the Jacobs Educator Award from the Indiana University School of Education.

An award recognizing teachers who utilize technology for innovative learning in the classroom, the honor was given to Gensic to encourage his efforts at New Prairie and to pass those skills on to education students at Indiana University.

He is among the first group of recipients for this honor.
