(3rd Year Poetry) I was born in Philadelphia and grew up just outside the city in the suburb of Cheltenham. After graduating from Penn State University, I returned to Philadelphia to work as a journalist at newspapers in and around the city. After three years of writing everything from crime reports to feature profiles, I came to Indiana to focus on poetry. My work now tends to focus on cities (especially Philadelphia), Catholicism, depictions of the body, and obscure moments in history. I still have one foot in the nonfiction world, where I continue to write essays, literary journalism, and book reviews.

My poems have appeared or are forthcoming in Mid-American Review, Hayden's Ferry Review, Redivider, Third Coast, and other journals. I was formerly the Poetry Editor of Indiana Review.

My ongoing project is to find the world's greatest simile.
