(2nd Year Poetry)Lavonne Jahan’Tigh has authored a poetry thesis, A Body Fully, and last year, a comprehensive study of American-Iranian relations since WWII. College began as a path towards medical school, but after years of biology and chemistry, she said, “Just one real writing class. A last fling so I’ll know for sure.” Now, she holds poetry and philosophy degrees from the University of Houston. After winning second for the Howard Moss Poetry Prize and serving as a genre editor for UH’S Glass Mountain, she joined Indiana University for her MFA.
An avid gardener, Lavonne is also—like most-near-all Persian Americans—a lover of Texas.
