(2nd Year Fiction) Randi Beck Ocena is a native of Oklahoma and graduated from the University of New Mexico with a degree in Philosophy and English. Randi spent most of her young life causing her family grief by engaging in such hazards as training horses, riding Greyhound, reading Nietzsche, and writing prose poems. Her work has been published in The Kenyon Review, Michigan Quarterly Review and Ramshackle Review, and is forthcoming in Threepenny. She was awarded the Lena Todd Prize for fiction in 2009, the Hillerman-McGarrity award for fiction in 2011 and is honored to be the 2012 recipient of the Omar Castaneda Fellowship. Randi resides with her partner, Samantha, their faithful steed, Tree, and two beautiful, ill-behaved parrots.
