We are lucky enough to have one of our national treasures, the poet Gerald Stern, reading here at Indiana University on Thursday, March 4, at 7pm in the Grand Hall of the Neal-Marshall building. Mr. Stern just celebrated his 85th birthday, but is still producing some of his most beautiful work.

NEAL-MARSHALL BLACK CULTURAL CENTER

An evening of music, readings, slides, and discussion devoted to the environmental, economic, and cultural impact of mountaintop removal of coal. This program will feature dynamic presentations by four Kentuckians who are at the forefront of the struggle to save the mountains of southern Appalachia. Because Indiana is one of the most coal-dependent states in the country, Hoosiers have an important part to play in the effort to move toward greener sources of energy.
