The Digital Performer interface | The Consolidated Window

New in DP4, the Consolidated Window is extremely flexible and can be configured and reconfigured many times during a session to meet the present editing needs. By default, it has a main body whose function can be chosen using the tabs above. These tabs will bring up windows such as Tracks, Sequence, Mixer and MeterBridge (new in DP5). By dragging down on of the horizontal dividers, two windows can occupy the main body if desired. In addition, sidebars can be opened to the left and right of the main body to contain other functions such as the Events List and Soundbytes. The contents of these cells are chosen by the dropdown menu on the bar of each.

The size of these cells and the main body can be altered using the horizontal and vertical dividers. In addition, if you create a configuration that you wish to come back to again and again, it can be save as a window set using the Window Menu. In addition, DP has some predefined Window Sets which can be accessed using the mini-menu in the upper left of the Consolidated Window. You will notice that each particular cell has its own mini-menu with commands that are contextual to the selected window.

Finally, you will undoubted want to have some windows outside of the Consolidated Window so it can be independently resized. In the annotated screenshot link below, note the angled arrow used to "pop out" a window from the Consolidated Window. This is particularly useful for editing on the Tracks or Sequence window or putting the Mixing Console on its own monitor, if you have two. Also, please view the video example linked below.
