Provost Karen Hanson has named Harold "Pete" Goldsmith to be the new vice provost for student affairs and dean of students, pending approval by the IU Board of Trustees.

Goldsmith, who earned undergraduate and doctoral degrees from IU Bloomington, has served as vice president for enrollment management and student affairs at Kent State University since 2003.

Goldsmith will replace current Dean of Students Dick McKaig, who is retiring after a 38-year career at Indiana University.
